Sheikh Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber receives 2017 Dialogue of Cultures Award
|
On May 29, 2017, Sheikh Mohamed received the award during the 10th Anniversary Gala of the Aladdin Project, held at the Hotel de Ville in Paris. The award was made by the Committee on Conscience, chaired by André Azoulay, Advisor to His Majesty the King of Morocco, and was given for Sheikh Mohamed’s “visionary leadership to promote intercultural dialogue based on universal values” and his “decades-long campaign for meaningful educational reform in the Arab world and beyond”. The citation continued: “Thanks to programmes such as Olive Tree, and the hundreds of scholarships you have given to students across the Arab world, a new generation of young leaders is now deeply steeped in the universal values of peace, mutual respect and social inclusion. Our members were particularly impressed with the Euro-Arab Dialogue that was launched in 2001 by Your Excellency in partnership with UNESCO, and which has become a unique bridge for exchange and action on education, cultural dialogue and good governance between Europe and the Arab world.”
The event, at the Hotel de Ville, brought together more than 400 political leaders, diplomats, intellectuals, business leaders, artists and journalists from Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
