The event was co-hosted by the London Middle East Institute (LMEI) and attended by VIPs, dignitaries, members of the British-Yemeni Society, invited guests and members of the public.

In 2014, Sir Alan was appointed the British government’s Special Envoy to Yemen in which role he works to help deliver the government’s Yemen Strategy, including security, stability and development objectives. He has previously played a key role in Britain’s relations with Yemen during his period as Minister of State in the Department of International Aid from 2010 to 2014.

The well-attended lecture was followed by a full half an hour of question time involving a well-informed and knowledgeable audience, and then by the reception sponsored by the MBI Al Jaber Foundation.
