The Birds of the Arabian Peninsula

Lecture by Rob Sheldon, Chairman, OSME

Rob Sheldon has worked in nature conservation for almost 20 years, including 12 years with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). His interest in birds of the Arabian Peninsula stems from a one year student placement at the National Avian Research Centre in the United Arab Emirates in 1995/96. Most recently he has worked for the Zoological Society of London as the Director of the King Khalid Wildlife Research Centre in Saudi Arabia. He has been a council member of the Ornithological Society of the Middle East, the Caucasus and Central Asia (OSME) since 2009, and is currently serving as Chairman.

This talk will look at the varied and wonderful bird life of the Arabian Peninsula, including a number of endemic species that can be found nowhere else in the world.
