MBI Al Jaber Foundation Team Attends Save The Children Centenary Symposium “See Me Safe”

Save The Children Centenary Symposium “See Me Safe”

The MBI Al Jaber Foundation Team participated in the Centenary Symposium of Save the Children “See Me Safe” that took place on 7th May, 2019 at the Church House, Westminster. This venue is significant, as Natasha Kaplinsky, Save the Children Ambassador, remarked as it was the place where the first UN Security Council meeting took place.

The event was divided into thought-provoking panel discussions which touched on various topics: shielding the children in order to protect their future, social justice, public perception of conflict and media coverage. Experts in all of the above fields, as well as academics and researchers from Chatham House and Save the Children staff, participated to these discussions.

Contributions were also given by children who benefited from partnerships between Save the Children and charities such as the Arsenal Foundation, which helped children living in refugee camps recover from and deal with trauma, as well as youth in their teens who engaged in a nationwide campaign to enhance secondary school students’ understanding of the situation in war-torn countries. Yemen, which constitutes one of the MBI Al Jaber Foundation’s main focuses, was mentioned many times as an example of the largest humanitarian disaster the world is facing today.

The MBI Al Jaber Foundation team were honoured to have been personally invited by Save the Children staff to participate at this historic event.
